"Whatever I am going to say would sound funny. But I always wanted a National Award because when I was around 21 years old, my granny gave me a saree. She said it to wear it for my wedding. I thought marriage was on cards next, and I had not done my first film yet. As I was nearing 23-24, I did Premam. I thought I will a big award someday, and that time National Award was a big one, and thought I will wear the saree then,” Sai Pallavi said on how the saree is connected to the National Film Award. Whether I win or not, the pressure is there until I wear that saree.

Sai Pallavi also mentioned that if people are able to feel what her characters are feeling, that is the biggest award.
