Speaking about News18, Emraan Hashmi, who is gearing up for the release of Taskaree: The Smuggler's Web, shared that he wants to see more women-centric films. “There’s also a space for women-centric films, though not many at this point. I would like to see more women-centric films being made, but it’s easier said than done," he added.
Emraan did not shy away from pointing out that most male stars are reluctant to do these kinds of projects." Men in our industry are very insecure. How many people would’ve done a film like Haq? Every narrative should showcase a man’s victory. I’m not blowing my own trumpet here. But even back then, I did a film like The Dirty Picture. I liked the subject," he said.
Highlighting the cinematic tendency to glorify strong, masculine heroes and clichéd stories, Emraan Hashmi has called on actors to move beyond their insecurities and experiment with more diverse, unconventional films.
Recently, Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar's reviews for Haq went viral. Alia praised Haq and wrote on her Instagram Story, "Queen Yami, you are pure craft, heart and all things gold in Haq. One of my top female performances of all time. As I mentioned over the phone, too am a Yami fan waiting eagerly for all your work to once again charm and entertain us all."
Yami Gautam praised Alia Bhatt for her generosity and perspective, calling her both a brilliant actor and a wonderful person. She praised Alia's work and professionalism, reflected on their heartfelt conversations, and celebrated the spirit of mutual support and empowerment.
Meanwhile, Karan Johar also praised Haq for its powerful storytelling and lauded Yami Gautam for delivering a path-breaking performance, describing her expressions, silences, and conviction as a masterclass in acting. He cited Emraan Hashmi's characterisation as one of the best of his career, firmly capturing the nuances of his character.
Apart from them, Farah Khan also praised Haq and said that Yami will get every award for her phenomenal performance.
