As Parasakthi gears up for its January 10 release amid censor delays, Sivakarthikeyan confirms an exciting cameo by Basil Joseph, adding buzz to the Sudha Kongara's period political drama

Parasakthi, the upcoming Tamil film starring Sivakarthikeyan is slated for a theatrical release on January 10. With only a couple of days ahead of release, the team is currently touring multiple cities to promote the film, despite trouble regarding the censor formalities brewing. Sivakarthikeyan along with his team had visited Kochi recently, during which the actor confirmed director and actor Basil Joseph’s presence in the film.

Sivakarthikeyan along with his Parasakthi team had promoted the film in Kochi recently. Speaking at the Kochi event, Sivakarthikeyan said, "There is something special about the film. Everyone's favourite and someone I am fond of too, Basi, has made a special appearance in the film. He stayed for a couple of days in Sri Lanka after the shoot. I interacted a lot with him during the shoot, and we had so much fun.” The actor also clarified that he got the permission from director Sudha Kongara to reveal his presence in the film, and then only said it.
Though Sivakarthikeyan and Basil have not worked in the past, at various instances Sivakarthikeyan had expressed admiration for the Malayalam director and actor. It is also to be noted that Parasakthi will be Basil’s first Tamil film, although it will be a cameo appearance.
Parasakthi has been facing censor delays, with only a couple of days left for the release. It is slated for a theatrical release on January 10. The makers must secure it by Friday in order to have a smooth release. Written and directed by Sudha Kongara, it is a period political drama set in 1965. It deals with the anti-Hindi agitations that took place in Tamil Nadu during the period. Marked as Sivakarthikeyan’s 25th film, the cast includes Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa and Sreeleela. GV Prakash has scored music, in his 100thouting.
