Amitabh Bachchan's late Onam post gets trolled
Legendary Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan is well-loved by cinephiles across the country, but on September 14, 2025, the veteran woke up to some unsavoury comments on social media, that too in Malayalam. The reason - Amitabh Bachchan posted Onam wishes on Sunday, more than a week after the Malayali festival was celebrated on September 5. This hasn’t gone down well with Malayalis, who took over the comments section, trolling the late post.

Amitabh Bachchan put up a post ‘ FB 4421 Onashamsakal’ (Happy Onam wishes) on Facebook and Twitter early on Sunday, along with a picture of the legend dressed in south Indian traditional attire of a white shirt and dhoti. But since the post came late by more than a week, Malayalis trolled him, saying that it is too early for next year’s Onam wishes.
While some mocked that he could be using a 2G internet connection, another person remarked that now we would have to bring back Maveli who has returned to the Netherworld (Paathalam).
Yet another netizen did some research and found that last year’s Onam was celebrated on September 14, and this would have caused the error by the Big B's social media team this year. But some kind souls appreciated seeing Amitabh in a traditional south Indian attire.
“Sir.. onam has already been celebrated last week..it might have been a false information conveyed to you by someone.. Any way better late than never.. Thanks for your wishes sir.. Happy onam,” reads one comment on Facebook.
Some also wished him in return and also enquired about his health. Notably, Big B had put up an Instagram post on September 5, on Onam, to mark the three occasions of Onam, Teacher's Day and Milad-un-Nabi.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Amitabh Bachchan is busy hosting the quiz show of Kaun Banega Crorepati. There are also rumours that he could be joining the cast of Don 3 which stars Ranveer Singh in the titular role. Bachchan is the OG Don, having starred in the first film in 1978. The upcoming film is helmed by Farhan Akhtar.
Meanwhile, for Onam, four Malayalam films hit the screens, but Lokah: Chapter 1 Chandra, starring Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen, has emerged to be the winner.
