A new executive committee is being elected by the Association of Malayalam Film Artists, or AMMA. In a media interview, Maala Parvathi said that although the actor may have a favourable public perception, AMMA members do not share this opinion. According to reports, Jagadish told Mohanlal, Mammootty, and Suresh Gopi about his decision and that he would back the female candidates running in the election.

In the meantime, several members oppose Baburaj's candidature for secretary due to the sexual harassment accusation against him. The presidential candidates were Jagadish, Shwetha Menon, Ravindran, Devan, Jayan Cherthala, and Anoop Chandran. Jagadish was the vice-president of the preceding executive committee. Baburaj, Anoop Chandran, Kukku Parameswaran, Ravindran and Jayan Cherthala will all run for the position of general secretary. There are nine candidates for the two vice presidential positions, including Navya Nair. Joy Mathew's nomination was rejected following document evaluation, and more female artistes are apparently competing this time.

There were 74 nominations in all, and several members submitted more than one application. According to an AMMA spokesperson, their paperwork will be reviewed in order to finalise the official list of candidates. Based on reports, the nomination process concluded on July 24. The final list of applicants will be checked after the withdrawal deadline on July 31 and the election is scheduled for August 15.
