Jagadish served as the previous committee's vice-president. The general secretary post will be contested by Baburaj, Anoop Chandran, Kukku Parameswaran, Jayan Cherthala, and Ravindran. Navya Nair is one of nine applicants for the two vice presidential posts. More actresses are reportedly vying this time, and Joy Mathew's nomination was turned down after document scrutiny.

"A total of 74 nominations were received, and some of the members applied for more than one position. Resignation of the previous committee

This election follows a string of accusations and controversies following the release of the Hema Committee report, which led to the abrupt mass resignation of AMMA's previous executive committee last year. Members of AMMA were similarly split over the executive committee's mass resignation, with some supporting the decision and others voicing disapproval.

In the meantime, Mohanlal had recently refused to run for any post in the reelection, even though the temporary panel was urging him to. After being accused of keeping silent about the controversies, the actor, who had been AMMA's president for all three prior terms, stepped down from the position. Siddique also resigned as general secretary after an actress filed a sexual assault complaint against him.
