Anek: Ayushmann Khurrana talks stereotypes while promoting movie; watch video here

Anek Ayushmann Khurrana's latest film, will be released in theatres shortly, therefore promotion for the film is in full gear. In a recent Instagram post, he discusses stereotypes on the comedy show The Comedy Club. In the episode, he mentioned several stereotypes with comedian Harsh Gujral.

In the seven minute long video, we witnessed the comedian begin the performance with a stereotype about Kanpur. The comedian mentioned how one notable thing about Kanpur is gutka (chewing tobacco), he joked about his first date in Kanpur. Later in the show, we see Ayushmann appear, and the actor wastes no time in making jokes about Punjabi stereotypes.

While discussing these stereotypes, Ayushmann also asserted that Indians have an unspoken bias towards North East Indians. While telling a story about how a buddy made fun of a North East Indian by asking if she knew any Hindi. Later in the story, he explained how he stood up and saluted her with the words "Mera Bharat Mahan." He also asked why North East Indians are considered foreigners.

In the video, Ayushmann underlined the value of living in a diverse society and growing together while rejecting any stereotypes of language and religion. Harsh and Ayushmann's comedic timing was impeccable, and they all made the crowd laugh out loud.

Anubhav Sinha's film Anek focuses on the cruelty and inequality that the people of North East India experience. Ayushmann plays an undercover officer on a mission to bring two opposed parties in the region to a peaceful settlement. Aside from Ayushmann, Deeplina Deka plays an important role in the film.

The movie will be released in theatres on May 27.

Following Anek Ayushmann will appear in Doctor G directed by Anubhuti Kashyap and starring Rakul Preet Singh and Shefali Shah.
