With Shamshera co-starring Sanjay Dutt having hit theatres last week and Brahmastra Part One: Shiva having locked on to a release date, Ranbir Kapoor is now back working on Animal. The actor has now talked about his role in the thriller, calling it the most shocking part he has ever done.

As reported by Mid Day, Ranbir said, “I was [stunned] to hear the script. It’s the most shocking part I have ever done. I am scared to rejoin that film. It is a great opportunity for me as an actor. No one expects me to do such a role. I hope the audience is ready for that film from me.”

Ranbir is teaming up with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga for the first time and the movie is touted to be an action thriller where Ranbir will play a gangster. While he takes on a character with a grey shade, Anil Kapoor is also a part of the movie and will play the role of Ranbir’s father. Rashmika Mandanna plays the female lead in the movie.

Animal is director Sandeep’s third movie, after having helmed the blockbuster Telugu hit, Arjun Reddy starring Vijay Deverakonda and its Hindi remake, Arjun Reddy starring Shahid Kapoor.

Talking further about the upcoming movie, Ranbir said that it required him to nail the grey shades and that the character’s physicality added to his menacing ways so he had to put on a lot of muscles.

Ranbir’s period drama Shamshera hit theatres on July 22, and has received unfavourable reviews. The movie also had a slow start to life, collecting just Rs. 30.75 crore on its opening weekend. He is now awaiting the release of the fantasy thriller Brahmastra, which is set to release on September 9.
