Music director AR Rahman is currently on the sets of director Blessy’s Aadujeevitham in Jordan. The maestro took to his social media page to share an update from the sets of the Prithviraj Sukumaran-starrer, which also marks his first Malayalam project after three decades.

“No phones..no internet for two days…just camels and sheep as friends! #aadujeevitham,” posted the composer, from Wadi Rum, where the team has been shooting for the past month. Rahman was roped in as the composer of the movie, which is based on Benyamin’s eponymous novel, almost three years ago.

In an earlier interview, Prithviraj had said that Rahman was excited to come onboard the project. He had last composed for a Malayalam film in 1992, for Mohanlal’s Yodha. For Aadujeevitham, Rahman has already recorded two songs with Chinmayi and Vijay Yesudas. The movie revolves around the life of a migrant worker named Najeeb, who is finds himself stranded and forced to work as a goat herder in a desert in Saudi Arabia.

After Aadujeevitham, Rahman has also signed on to compose the music for Fahadh Faasil’s Malayankunju, which is directed by Sajimon Prabhakar. The movie was initially scheduled to release this February, but has been pushed because the composer has been busy with his prior commitments. A source close to the team had told OTTplay, “Rahman has been busy with other projects. He has completed 50% of the score of Malayankunju and is expected to complete the rest soon. We will take a call on the film’s release date after that.” Rahman had also done a cameo in Mohanlal's Aaraattu earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Prithviraj and team, who had shot in Algeria for 40 days and has been in Jordan for a month now, is expected to return to India by June 11. The team will then film for 10 days at sets erected for the film in India.
