Arasan is an upcoming Tamil film starring Silambarasan in the lead role. Directed by Vetrimaaran, who is known for his gritty actioners, Arasan has been announced to be set in the world of Vada Chennai, a critically acclaimed Dhanush-starrer helmed by Vetrimaaran himself.
However, Vetrimaaran, who has constantly collaborated with composers GV Prakash or Santhosh Narayanan so far for his films, is making a fresh team-up with Anirudh Ravichander. After scoring for LCU, it is time for Anirudh to step into another universe; this time with the gangster actioner world of Vada Chennai.
Upon seeing the promo, fans are divided. While the background score of Arasan fairly impressed many, there is still a section that did not find Anirudh’s score up to the mark. Given that Santhosh Narayanan is often known for his earthy and rooted music, the Arasan promo has not fully satisfied many. Even as Anirudh managed to do impressive jobs with LCU, some of them demanded Santhosh Narayanan's music in Arasan.
Shot by cinematographer R Velraj and edited R Ramar, the art direction is by Jacki and Peter Hein has designed the stunts. A release date for Arasan is yet to be announced. The five-minute-long promo features Silambarasan in two getups. In one of his older appearances, he is seen speaking to director Nelson Dilipkumar and confessing his crimes so that the latter can fictionalise and make it into film. Meanwhile, another appearance with Simbu in funk hairstyle is shown to be gruesomely murdering people. Arasan will release as Saamrajyam in Telugu.
