The young filmmaker discussed the reception of the series—which featured cameos from his father and superstar Shah Rukh Khan and spoofs of family friends—in a recent interview with GQ India.
Khan said, "He’s the easiest person to work with. He knows exactly what to do and how to do it. And when he’s on set, everyone else behaves exceptionally well," in response to a question regarding his work equation with his father.
Beyond his main filmmaking tasks, Khan also revealed a personal contribution he made to the show. He noted, "Fun fact, in the show, when Salman Khan says, ‘What party? Bullshit party – that’s actually me."
The series stands out with its self-aware and incisive approach; it features a high-energy style. Khan emphasised his happiness with the audience's involvement as he reflected on the reception after the release.
"I’m extremely grateful," he expressed. Khan went on to say, "As a creator, the biggest reward is people enjoying what you’ve poured your heart into. I did expect it to do well, and I’m not saying this out of arrogance but belief. If I don’t believe in the project, as the director, who will?"
The show's failure to "make waves" would have disappointed Khan, even though he had expected it. For viewers who consumed the entire series rapidly, he suggested a rewatch to catch the dense content: “If you binged it in the first week, you should rewatch it. There are jokes people miss because one punchline overlaps with the next.
Khan has stated that writing, with the intention of creating fresh content, will be his next emphasis.
"I have two or three projects I want to develop, but nothing’s locked in yet. This year is about sitting down, writing, and shaping whatever comes after," he concluded.
