National Award-winning actor Anupam Kher, who is still going strong after several decades in the film industry, said ahead of the release of his film Shiv Shastri Balboa that the younger generation is missing out on some things that his generation was blessed with.

Asked about the special learning he had as a child, Anupam told OTTplay, "What you learn from life cannot be learned by Google search! When I was young, we used to play on the ground, listen to stories from our grandparents, read books, learn new things and learn from our own mistakes. These days, when a child is born, instead of letting them play, parents give them mobile phones in their hand and feel proud that they are becoming social media stars. Everyone wants to achieve things overnight instead of enjoying the journey. We tend to forget that life is not about gathering information online, but living out in nature."

Born in 1955 in Shimla, to a middle-class family, the veteran actor said that even though he never saw a lot of money as a child, he always saw happiness in small things. "I remember once, when I was a little boy, I asked my grandfather why are we so happy to sit together and eat even though our house is small. I remember he told me that when you cannot afford expensive things, happiness is the most affordable things and togetherness is all that we have," shared the actor.

Drawing parallels between himself and his character in Shiv Shastri Balboa, Anupam said that Shiv Shastri also believes that in any crisis, well-meaning people, their strength and togetherness make everything work eventually.

Shiv Shastri Balboa also stars Neena Gupta, Sharib Hashmi and Nargis Fakhri, and is currently running in theatres.
