At Pathu Thala audio launch event, Tamil star Silambarasan, popularly known as Simbu, made a rousing speech about rebounding from career setbacks. He expressed his gratitude for his fans, who he said, kept their faith in his darkest times.

"You (fans) have done so much for me and you have always stood by me. Your constant wish and support for my success have got me till here," Simbu said.

He noted that he has attended several film events at Chennai's Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and saw crowds gathered for other celebrities. He revealed he was overwhelmed to see a crowd for the first time that had gathered just for him at that very stadium.

"From now, I will take care of things and you guys be happy. You don't have to go on Twitter and Instagram to defend me anymore. You stood by me during my tough times and that's enough. From now on, just sit and watch what I do. Just enjoy. Because I have a comeback. I am not back in any ordinary sense. I am a different version now. I won't relent and I won't let you hang your head in shame again," he added.

In the early 2010s, Simbu's career hit a rough patch. He was the subject of many controversies and he was accused of causing serious financial problems with his "unprofessionalism." The Tamil producers council had also issued a red card against Simbu over such allegations. And he was also body-shamed after he gained several pounds during his downtime.

Simbu caught his first major break in a long time with director Venkat Prabhu's Maanaadu. And the actor was also appreciated for his performance in Gautham Menon's gangster drama Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu.

"I will do things from now on that will make Tamil people and Tamil cinema proud. I'm saying this with a lot of self-confidence and honesty. It's everyone's responsibility to raise Tamil cinema to global fame. And I also have that responsibility and I will definitely do it," he added.

Pathu Thala is the remake of Kannada hit Mufti and it's written and directed by Obeli N. Krishna. The trailer of the film was also released along with its audio, which is scored by Oscar-winner AR Rahman.

Pathu Thala also stars Gautham Karthik, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Anu Sithara, Teejay Arunasalam, Kalaiyarasan and Redin Kingsley. And it's due in cinemas on March 30.
