Ahead of the release of Avatar: The Way of Water, film & trade pundits foresaw a glorious theatrical run and James Cameron's film delivered on those expectations without fail. The epic science fiction film released worldwide on December 16 amid tremendous fanfare and anticipation and went on to set the cash registers ringing within no time, simultaneously breaking a few box office records. Reportedly made at a budget of close to $400 million, Avatar 2 has managed to collect over $2.28 billion in its nearly three-month-long theatrical expedition across the globe.

And now, having achieved this target, James Cameron and Co. are ready to bring their labour of love home, quite literally.

Yes, the makers took to social media a short while ago to announce that Avatar: The Way of Water is finally on digital on March 28th and the admirers of the film can soon watch the film from the comfort of their homes. But, there's a catch: the film is available for purchase and not for direct streaming/rental yet.

The makers of Way of Water are expected to announce the release dates for Blu-Ray, Disney+ and other global channels at the earliest.

It isn't clear either whether the film will available to buy in select regions of the globe or all across. A few OTT or digital platform trackers online suggest that the film will be available for purchase on March 28 for the 'overseas' audience only, which means that fans from India may have to wait a bit longer to catch a digital show of the film.

"Return to Pandora whenever you want at home, only on Digital March 28. Get access to over three hours of never-before-seen extras when you add #AvatarTheWayOfWater to your movie collection," read the official tweet from team Avatar.

As part of the super exciting bonus feature, the three-hour special will focus extensively on the behind-the-scenes action of the making of Avatar: The Way of Water. As per The Hollywood Reporter, the bonus material unravels the revolutionary performance capture process, the creation of the mystical underwater world of Pandora and also the casting procedure. It will also shed light on the post-production visual effects process and discuss at length many other facets of the making of the visual spectacle.
