Malayalam superstar Manju Warrier will be beginning 2023 with a bang! The actress, who will kick off the year with Ajith’s Thunivu, also has a big release in Malayalam in January – Aamir Pallikal’s Ayisha.

The entertainer, which is co-produced by Sudani From Nigeria filmmaker Zakariya, has been extensively shot in the UAE and is touted to be the first ever Indo-Arab film. Aamir had earlier told OTTplay that the movie is an all-out family entertainer and that the team is planning to release both the Malayalam as well as the Arabic versions of the film simultaneously along with other languages – Kannada, Telugu, Hindi and Tamil.

The team have been sharing character posters from the film since the final week of 2022, while also revealing that the film has been locked for a January 20 release date across the country. Ayisha, which was mostly shot in Ras Al Khaimah, Dubai and Mumbai, also features a host of foreign artistes from countries such as Tunisia, UAE, Philippines, Nigeria, Syria and Yemen.

Classmates fame Radhika, who had made her comeback with Shaji N Karun’s Olu, will be seen essaying the role of Nisha in the movie. “We introduce her in a never-before-seen charisma, as Nisha, a very promising and captivating lady,” wrote Manju, sharing Radhika’s character poster from the movie on her social media page.

The team also revealed that Egyptian actor Islam Abdelgawwad, who will be playing Abdulla, is part of the movie. The makers had apparently gone through “thousands of applicants from multiple countries” in the Middle East before picking Islam for the role due to his “outstanding acting skills and his ability to handle multiple languages”, Manju wrote, sharing his look from the movie.

Meanwhile, Manju will be seen as Kanmani in Ajith’s heist thriller Thunivu, which is all hit theatres on January 11, 2023.
