Superstar Rajinikanth is someone who always stands up for his friends, is something that we know already. Veteran music director Deva, who had scored music for Rajinikanth's iconic films, Annamalai (1992) and Baashha (1995), recently recollected one such incident on an episode on the singing reality show Super Singer.

The composer revealed that ahead of his concert last year (November 20, 2022), he had gone to Superstar Rajinikanth's house to invite him for the show. "I had taken a prior appointment for the meeting. As soon as we met, he hugged me immediately. We sat together. I didn't talk much. All I said was that I was doing a music concert after three decades. I have not done a live concert with 75 people and it was a big show of sorts and it was happening at Nehru Stadium on the 20th. I told him that it would be a matter of pride for me if he came to the concert."

He added that Rajinikanth was busy with the shoot of his upcoming film, Jailer, and that he didn't want to force him to come. "I didn't want to disturb him. He asked his personal assistant to jot down the date of the concert. It would have been around half an hour since I left his house. I was at a coffee shop when I received a call from Rajinikanth sir and he assured me that he would be there 200 per cent.

I was wondering why he said that? That's when I remembered our conversation. He asked me how the ticket sales were going? I said they are doing ok, but not great. I don't know what he thought after that. I think he wanted a huge turnout for the concert. He would have thought that the venue should be houseful and look like a Tiruvizha. He said, "You advertise it in all the newspapers that I am coming to. ''. The concert indeed  became a thiruvizha. I have not seen a great human like him." It is to be noted that Deva is the man behind the theme song that plays during the Super Star title card in his films.
