Dasara, the action entertainer headlined by Nani and Keerthy Suresh, marks the directorial debut of Srikanth Odela. Dia, Meet Cute fame Dheekshith Shetty also essays a crucial role in the film that releases across five languages - Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi - on March 30. Ahead of Dasara’s release, Dheekshith, in a media interaction, spoke at length about his role and the film.

“When I auditioned for Meet Cute, a co-director Vinay referred me to the team of Dasara. Nani liked my performance in Meet Cute and it gave him the confidence to cast me for Dasara. I play a guy named Suri, a close friend of Nani in the film, and it’s a crucial, full-length role. Dasara is a rollercoaster ride of emotions with all the commercial ingredients in the right mix and it’s a full-on entertainer,” he said.

Dheekshith shared he’s beyond thrilled to be a part of team Dasara. “Bagging this offer in itself is a great success for me. The definition of true success for an actor is to get multiple offers after performing well in a role. This is a step in the right direction for me,” he stated. From learning the Telangana slang to the mannerisms, body language of the local crowds, the experience was a good learning curve for him.

As a director, Srikanth Odela has a structure in place, a clear head and knows what he wants, Dheekshith mentioned his only focus was to follow the former’s instructions. He said Nani fully deserved the ‘Natural Star’ label, calling him a disciplined actor with immense dedication towards his work. “I was inspired by his drive and cinema means everything to him.”

While he admired Keerthy Suresh for his Mahanati act, the actor stated it was surreal to share screen space with her in the film. Dheekshith claims to be a good fan of Santhosh Narayanan himself and averred he was witness to the efforts that went into the making of the songs.

“I’m thankful to the producers for picking a non-Telugu actor for a crucial role. There’s good buzz for Dasara in Karnataka as well. The regional barriers have diminished after hits like KGF, Pushpa and RRR,” he added, on a parting note.
