Basil Joseph in Mohanlal Hridayapoorvam? Anoop Sathyan offers exciting update: ‘An upgraded Sathyan Anthikad film’

Rumors were rife that actor-director Basil Joseph will be teaming up with Mohanlal in Sathyan Anthikad’s next Hridayapoorvam. However, Anoop Sathyan reveals that’s not the case.

Mohanlal fans would have started the day with two exciting reports on social media. One about the L2: Empuraan star’s new look that has been doing the rounds, and another about a much-awaited collaboration – between Mohanlal and Basil Joseph.

Before you jump to a conclusion, the rumor wasn’t about Basil directing Mohanlal. Although the actor-director has admitted that he has plans to helm movies with the Big Ms this rumor was about the Ponman and Pravinkoodu Shappu artiste teaming up with the superstar for director Sathyan Anthikad’s upcoming movie Hridayapoorvam.

Fans were already thrilled with the possibility after a tweet went viral, with many saying it would make for a fresh on-screen pair. However, when OTTplay reached out to Anoop Sathyan, who would be working as part of the crew of his father’s directorial, the Varane Avashyamund filmmaker denied that casting was in the works.

“That’s news to me. We are giving the final touches to the script and as of now there’s no character for Basil,” he says. This is in line with what Basil himself had told us earlier when he revealed that he plans to pause his acting projects after Marana Mass to focus on his upcoming directorial.

‘Malavika Mohananan and Sangita play the female leads’

Anoop, meanwhile, revealed the confirmed cast members of Hridayapoorvam, which include Malavika Mohanan, Sangita Madhavan Nair, Sangeeth Prathap, Nishan, and Lalu Alex. “Malavika and Sangita play the female leads. We are planning to begin the shoot on March 10, and that’s why you see Mohanlal in a new look. He won’t have a beard in the film,” says Anoop.

Ask him further about the movie’s genre and plot, and he says, “It’s too soon to reveal all of that. All I can say is that it’s an upgraded Sathyan Anthikad film.”
