What did Bhavana say about Toxic teaser

During a recent interview with Manorama Online, Bhavana was also asked about the sexually explicit scenes in the teaser of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups and whether the upcoming Kannada film glorifies it.

“I see all this as a cinema. We are all watching Hollywood films. That's not the kind of mindset people have now. We have a very open-(minded) audience, especially in Malayalam. Earlier, a lip-kiss scene (would have shocked audiences). Now people have changed from all that,” remarked the actress, who is awaiting the release of the movie Anomie.

But Bhavana, who has also acted in Kannada movies, further said that the audience will embrace it if it is a good film, otherwise they won’t.

Bhavana also clarified that she does not know the concept of the movie, nor were there any discussions about it with her friend Geetu. Reacting to the trolls that attacked the Malayalam filmmaker over the Toxic teaser, the actress did admit that everyone has their opinion and there is nothing wrong in expressing it. However, she further clarified that the Toxic teaser has become so much discussed because of another incident that happened earlier.

Why was Geetu Mohandas trolled for Toxic teaser

For the unversed, Bhavana refers to an earlier incident when Geetu Mohandas was seen urging Malayalam actress Parvathy Thiruvothu to name Mammootty-starrer Kasaba as the film that had misogynistic dialogues, especially rendered by the ‘hero’. Ever since the Toxic teaser dropped, this video surfaced online and many netizens criticised Geetu for her ‘double standards’ while some pointed out that it is not fair to judge her based on just the teaser. The hypersexualised scenes became a hot topic of discussion, especially since it came from a female filmmaker known for being vocal about women’s issues.

On the other hand, the Toxic teaser was released on Rocking Star Yash’s birthday on January 8, 2026. The Kannada film is set to release in theatres on March 19, 2026.

Bhavana will be next seen in the Malayalam movie, Anomie, releasing on January 30, 2026.
