Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2: Kiara Advani reveals why she came on board for Kartik Aaryan’s film

The highly awaited horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has finally hit theatres today. The film stars Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani in lead roles. The actress recently opened up on why she decided to come on board for the Anees Bazmee directorial.

In conversation with ETimes, Advani recalled how the first Bhool Bhulaiyaa film was one of the first ever horror comedies she had watched in a cinema hall, at the age of 15. Not being a big fan of horror movies, the actress said that if she was to ever watch a film in that genre, it was important for her to enjoy the film ‘in some sense’. Since the sequel was a part of the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise, Advani considered it a ‘no brainer’ to say yes to the film.

The actress revealed that when director Bazmee approached her with the script, she thought about how the storyline was ‘new’ and ‘fresh’. The makers had weaved a new premise for the film while making sure to retain the ‘essence of the original’. Advani talked about how the makers tried to inspire nostalgia through several elements in the film, including the title track and the name ‘Monjulika’. “What I loved about the script is that, I think it's one of those horror comedies that I feel all age groups can watch”, she added.

In addition to Advani and Aaryan, the upcoming film also features Tabu, Rajpal Yadav and Sanjay Mishra in pivotal roles. The film is produced under the banners of T-Series and Cine 1 Studios.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is now showing in theatres. After its theatrical run, the film will be available for streaming on Netflix, although an official OTT release date is yet to be announced.
