Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan reunite for the horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla out April 10, 2026. Starring Tabu and Paresh Rawal, it blends Vedic myths with the duo’s signature chaotic humour.

The makers of Bhooth Bangla have formally unveiled a new promotional poster as the anticipation for one of the year's most talked-about film reunions grows. The film will release to a wide theatre audience on April 10, 2026. It heralds the reunion of the acclaimed actor-filmmaker duo Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan.

The newly revealed poster shows the star, who plays the lead, hanging precariously from a twisted tree branch, seemingly defying the laws of gravity. With a big fruit bat dangling similarly by his side, Kumar's expression—a blend of innocent playfulness and unsettling intensity—indicates the film's dedication to the horror-comedy subgenre. A majestic gothic home with lit windows, a misty woodland, and a conspicuous full moon create the perfect setting for a classic eerie tale.
Working together, Kumar and Priyadarshan continue to generate a lot of excitement in the industry. After their collaboration on the social satire Khatta Meetha in 2010, the duo is returning after a 14-year hiatus. Included in their body of work are such classics as Hera Pheri (2000), Garam Masala (2005), and Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007), among many more in the Indian comedy genre. Bhooth Bangla is being marketed as a throwback to the duo's earlier work, which was characterised by chaotic, character-driven humour as well as another installment in the horror-comedy wave that is presently ruling the Indian movie office.

Along with Kumar, the film features an impressive ensemble cast. The project includes Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav, two seasoned character performers, as well as Tabu, who made a triumphant comeback to the genre with the Bhool Bhulaiyaa sequels. The additions bring back the original comedy ensemble from Priyadarshan's hit films. Jisshu Sengupta, Mithila Palkar, and Wamiqa Gabbi are among the film's other stars. Bhooth Bangla will have one of the last screen appearances of the late legendary actor Asrani, who was a frequent collaborator with Priyadarshan and finished filming his portions before he passed away in 2025.
Priyadarshan is directing the script, which reportedly draws inspiration from ancient Vedic writings and incorporates elements of Indian mythology and black magic. Chomu Palace in Jaipur, where Bhool Bhulaiyaa was shot, is also featured; this film's locations also include Mumbai and Hyderabad's Ramoji Film City.
Kumar's Cape of Good Films and Shobha Kapoor and Ektaa R. Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures are producing the film, which is scheduled for release on April 10, 2026. To take advantage of a more opportune theatrical window, this date was just pushed forward from May.
Bhooth Bangla is expected to dominate the spring box office, capitalising on the market's current need for supernatural entertainment and appealing to nostalgia for the Priyadarshan-Akshay collaboration, according to industry observers. A digital teaser is anticipated to be issued within the next 24 hours after today's poster drop.
