Bigg Boss Kannada 12: It’d been speculated that the one-man entertainer Gilli Nata would win BBK 12, but with 3 women in the top 5, some thought there could be surprise winner after all.

Throughout the finale episode, host Kiccha Sudeep reiterated several times that there were three women in the top 5 and going by the voting trend until Friday midnight, when the gap between the top 2 contestants was said to be marginal.

At the time, it was widely speculated that the showrunners could be hinting at a tough fight between Gilli and Ashwini, with several saying that the latter may just pip the more popular contestant to make way for the second-ever female winner of the reality show. There was a theory that there was pressure on the showrunners from various quarters to ensure a female winner, despite the overwhelming support for Gilli.

Add to that the trolling that Sudeep was subjected to by Gilli’s fans and it was felt that he may be denied the win he deserved. But putting all rumours to rest, the actor was named winner after all. Following the finale, several netizens felt that Kayva Shaiva deserved to be the runner-up and that the video capturing her journey in the house did not do her justice.
