Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 7: The Mohanlal-hosted show has a start date, a no-nonsense tolerance policy, but no news on the contestants. This season is, reportedly, housing more commoners than celebs

It was rumoured to begin in early August and now, the official confirmation has come. Season 7 of the popular Malayalam reality show Bigg Boss Malayalam has a start date. Earlier today, the hosting channel, Asianet, dropped a promo for the grand launch of the show, which is hosted by Malayalam superstar Mohanlal. Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 7 (BBMS7) is scheduled to kickstart on August 3, with live telecast of the launch on Asianet from 7 pm onwards. Live streaming is available on JioHotstar, which can be availed via OTTplay Premium as well.

This being Season 7, all the show related puns revolve around the number 7. For starters, Mohanlal has been announcing a zero-tolerance policy for a lot of behaviours that were seen in earlier seasons, like, for instance, pulling the victim card, flattery, etc. The response to any such tantrums would be “ezhinte pani” and not “ettinte pani”. This time, the road to the title is said to be 7-pronged journey.
This season is also expected to be around 100 days, with Mohanlal to host the weekend episodes at the Bigg Boss Malayalam house in Chennai. The actor, who has had a fantabulous year with two blockbuster releases – L2 Empuraan and Thudarum – has an Onam release in the form of Satyan Anthikkad’s Hridayapoorvam.

Mohanlal, who has wrapped up his portions film Patriot (multi-starrer directed by Mahesh Narayanan) and is expected to can his cameo in Dileep’s Bha Bha Bha shortly, will juggle his schedule for the final instalment of Drishyam - Drishyam 3 - sometime towards the end of the season. The Jithu Joseph directorial is expected to go on floors latest by October this year, as it is simultaneously being shot in Hindi too with Ajay Devgn in the lead.
Meanwhile, this season of Bigg Boss Malayalam is said to have more commoners than celebrities as participants. Some of the names rumoured to be participating include Josephine Binny Sebastian, Jasi Ashi, Renu Sudhi, Vedan, Sujaya Parvathy, Maitreyan, Kili Paul, Appani Sharath, Beena Anthony, Seema G Nair, among other.
