Bijoya actress Swastika Mukherjee shares a note for her daughter

The recently released Hoichoi web series Bijoya, directed by Sayantan Ghosal, has created a buzz on social media. It tells the story of a student’s death due to ragging, and a mother’s vengeance. In the show, Swastika Mukherjee – a mother of a daughter in real life – plays Bijoya, whose son goes to the city to study at a reputed university.

Swastika shared several photos with her daughter Anwesha on Instagram that showed the child at different ages. Anwesha lives in the UK as she studies at Cardiff University. Hence, Swastika lives far away from her daughter and misses her.

Swastika wrote on Instagram ‘People are talking about Bijoya, they are talking about their children. They might live far or close, but mine lives far. I feel sad hearing others’ stories. I haven't seen her for so many days. The video call is everything to me.’

‘Mammai–my dear child @anwesha24. The best daughter in the world. All mothers are the same, we embrace each other.’ Swastika wrote.

A fan wrote in the post ‘I am missing my mom. So beautiful!’ A second one wrote, ‘Mother can truly achieve. So did Bijoya.’ A third person wrote ‘You spoke the best words. Whenever someone talks about their kid, it reminds us of ours.’

Swastika got married to Pramit Sen at a young age but got separated after some time. She brought up Anwesha single-handedly.

Swastika told Hindustan Times Bangla, “Bijoya tells the story of Naihati and Kolkata. But I also have Kolkata and London in my life. I felt the bondage between a mother and the kid while playing this role. I emotionally got involved because not only the stress, but my motherly self also worked here. This character will remain one of the important roles in my career.”
