Actress Aparna Nayr is quite excited to make her debut in Hindi cinema with the upcoming action thriller Bloody Daddy, starring Shahid Kapoor. The film is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar.

Talking about the film, Aparna said, “I’m excited to be a part of an action film as my first Indian movie project. I couldn’t imagine working with a better director than Ali Abbas Zafar on this. It’s nothing like I’ve ever done before. I’m excited for everyone to see what we’ve done in the film.”

Aparna started her acting and modelling career in the Middle East, appearing in more than 500 commercials. She was recently featured in the music video Kanna Vich Waaliyan, with singers Yo Yo Honey Singh and Hommie Dilliwala.

Cut to Bloody Daddy, the film is an adaptation of the Frederic Jardin-directed 2011 French movie Sleepless Night, which stars Tomer Sisley. Shahid plays the protagonist in the Ali Abbas directorial. Recently, the filmmaker explained why he chose Shahid for an action-hero in the film, whereas he is more popular in Bollywood as a romantic hero.

“When making a remake, one needs to find a landscape where the story will be set. I was very clear that if I set the story in Delhi, Gurgaon and the NCR area, it would get the right backdrop, considering that the story involves drugs, action, and thrills and that the entire incident takes place in one night. Eventually, when I was ready with the story and had developed the character, the only actor I could think of was Shahid. In the original film, the protagonist was brilliant, with a lot of intensity in his eyes. I felt that there was no other actor who could justify the role apart from Shahid, who I feel is an actor-star,” said the director.

Adding to that, the Tiger Zinda Hai director said, “In films like Haidar, Jab We Met and Kabir Singh, Shahid’s characters are bigger than his stardom, which is a very good thing. So, we designed everything in the film - action, emotion and every other element - around Shahid, because his performance is the basis of the two-hour narrative. That is also why people find it interesting, because a new action hero is doing the action in a new way, which is raw and rustic. In this film, even the hero gets injured, and so it’s real.”

Releasing on Jio Cinema on June 9, Bloody Daddy also features Ronit Roy, Sanjay Kapoor, Rajeev Khandelwal, Diana Penty and Zeishan Quadri in pivotal roles.
