Bony Sengupta and Koushani Mukherjee have started their production company. They have also begun the shooting of their first film Dal Bati Churma with Haranath Chakraborty. In an interview with OTTplay, Bony said that when it comes to mainstream family drama, he trusts the generation of Haranath, Swapan Saha and his father, Anup Sengupta.

Bony said that when it comes to filmmaking, Haranath knows no shortcut. He further explained that instead of asking his assistants to do something, the director would himself work on it. “There is a level of commitment which is rare. There was a scene where I got drenched in water. Harakaku also got drenched in water,” said the actor. He also added that since he had the experience of working with Haranath before in Bhootchakra Pvt Ltd, it was easy for him to understand his work process.

In Dal Bati Churma, Bony plays the character of a nonBengali boy who lives in North Kolkata. He will meet a Bengali girl from South Kolkata. Koushani will play the character of that girl. “It is a family drama garnished with comedy. I think Harakaku, Papa and the directors from that generation understand family drama more than anyone else. If a family film is made well, I believe our audience will lap it up. In Dal Bati Churma, we are trying to do just that. We are making it with great care,” he said.

The Kolkata leg of the shooting is done. On August 4, the team will go to Rajasthan to shoot for another four days. “In the film, I play a non-Bengali boy. We are done with the Kolkata leg of shooting and we will be doing the Rajasthan part in August,” Bonny says.
