Before making waves with Border 2, Ahan Shetty was seen in a romantic action movie titled Tadap, which marked his awaited Hindi film debut. Recently, in a conversation with Midday, Ahan Shetty recalled how he had to wait for nearly five years for another onscreen presence because of a contract. Ahan Shetty revealed that he was bound by a contract with Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment that held him back from signing any films. Hence, Border 2 marks Ahan Shetty’s comeback after a hiatus of five years since his debut.
Ahan Shetty, who is actor Sunil Shetty’s son, revealed that he had quite a few offers in his kitty, but because of the contract, he couldn’t agree to any of the films.
“I wasn't allowed to sign any other movie for four years. A lot of offers came my way, but you can't [breach] a contract,” Ahan told Mid Day.
The 30-year-old actor further added that Tadap performed well at the box office, and the makers even gained some profit, which is contradictory to the news that dubbed it as a bad business film. The actor recalled the tough phase when expectations with his performance and debut affected his confidence. “Tadap made Rs 40 crore at a time when films weren't crossing Rs 10 crore. I was very low on confidence during that period,” said Ahan.
Ever since Sunny Deol’s Border 2 was announced, fans have been eagerly waiting for its premiere. The wait got over with the special Republic Day week theatrical release when Border 2 emerged on the silver screens to narrate a captivating tale of patriotism, sacrifice, brotherhood, and duty on the battlefield. Ahan Shetty essayed the role of Lt Cdr Mahendra Singh Rawat in Border 2 alongside Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh. When asked how he grabbed the role of an Indian Navy officer, Ahan exclaimed that he was unable to accept that the makers wanted a newcomer to join such a big franchise.
He revealed that producer JP Dutta (who directed Border) and his daughter Nidhi Dutta joined him for dinner and offered him the role, which surprised him initially, but as fate had it, Ahan signed the movie alongside a stellar ensemble cast and later garnered love from fans for his performance. Meanwhile, Ahan also grabbed attention for his sweet response to random comments on Instagram, where fans wrote that they will only watch the film if Ahan Shetty replies to their comment. It came as a surprise to many when the humbled actor actually ended up commenting on several posts.
Border 2 is currently available to watch in the theaters. According to Sacnilk, it earned Rs 225 crore at the domestic collection.
