Grapevine has it that Arun Vijay's Borrder is likely to have a theatrical release on August 31, although the makers are yet to put out an official confirmation.

Directed by Arivazhagan, this spy thriller has Regina Cassandra and Stefy Patel playing the female leads. The first look of Borrder was released last year. It has Arun Vijay’s face dented on the map of India. From this, we infer, that the film touches upon patriotism and the dangers of terrorism. While Arun Vijay plays Aravind Chandrashekar, who is part of the Defence Intelligence Agency, Regina is expected to take on a role with grey shades.

Borrder marks the second collaboration between Arun Vijay and Arivazhagan. They earlier worked on Kuttram 23, a medical thriller. “Borrder is a full on action thriller with intense stunts, and will be different from Kuttram 23,” Arun Vijay assures.

With music by Sam CS, Borrder, which was shot in Delhi, Agra and Chennai, has cinematography by Rajasekar and editing by Sabu Joseph. The supporting cast includes Shan Sharif Khan, Chandrasekar Koneru and Bagavathi Perumal.

Arun Vijay tells OTTplay, “Borrder is an important film in my career, and we are looking to make it a pan-Indian release. With Saaho, I learnt that language wasn't a barrier, and all that matters is content.”

Reflecting upon his journey in films, Arun Vijay says, he's moving away from formulaic ones. And, this was his conscious decision. “It feels great to know that my struggle has been acknowledged by audiences and the industry. I was too young and immature when I first started; I made many mistakes, and I learnt from them. It hasn’t been easy. Only my family and close friends know how much pain I went through. That was the only thing that helped me reinvent myself.”

Arun Vijay is hopeful about Agni Siragugal with Moodar Koodam-fame director Naveen. “It’s a wonderful script and has Vijay Antony in an important role. After that, I’ve got Boxer, a sports film and then with debutant director Gopi where once again, I’ll be playing a cop in it. There is Sinam too which I have produced and we will be fixing a release date soon.”

Further, Arun Vijay has Tamil Rockerz in the pipeline, which will premiere on SonyLIV. Directed by Borrder fame Arivazhagan, the series features Azhagam Perumal, Iswarya Menon, Vani Bhojan, Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, and MS Bhaskar, among others. Ace production banner, AVM Productions, is bankrolling the project, and it's their maiden series.

The story revolves around a notorious piracy group, Tamilrockerz, who publicly announce their intention to leak the massively budgeted and highly anticipated film. To secure the film, a special team led by Rudra, a cop with a troubled past, must battle time, unruly fans, and an anonymous network of cyber pirates.

“Everything changes with time. Before OTT became a trend, it felt like it was not the right option. We were obsessed with theatres. Now, viewing habits have changed; thanks to the Pandemic. There’s so much to watch on the digital space that thrive on sharp narratives. The OTT space defies genre limitations and gives filmmakers the freedom to explore unusual themes without having to worry about box-office returns!"
