Brahmastra: Did Ranbir Kapoor not charge a penny for the first instalment of the Ayan Mukerji directorial?

Brahmastra which Ayan Mukerji directed, has been hailed as a box office success. It is anticipated that in the next few days, the movie will do even better after earning over Rs 360 crore internationally. Ranbir Kapoor, however, was questioned about his payment for the movie in a recent interview with Komal Nahta.

The actor said, "Aapne jo prashna pucha ki maine kuch charge kiya ya nhi kiya, actually maine kiya (You asked if I charged anything or not, actually I did). I have this equity for life. I'm also part producer of the film. Meri nazariya aur soch long run hai (I am thinking more long term). Maine part one me paese nhi liye (I didn't charge for part 1), but eventually jo faith aur belief hai ki 3 parts m jo yeh film bana sakti hai (but the faith that I have about the amount that the film will make over three parts) is beyond anything I'd get as an actor, price as an actor."

Ayan eventually shared his perspective as well, saying, "The truth is that the film has been made because of a lot of personal sacrifice. It is true that of the amount that Ranbir would make as a star actor, he didn’t take anything for the making of Brahmastra. This is a very, very big thing, because it would not be possible to make this film."

The director also talked about Alia Bhatt, who plays the lead role. He said that in 2014, once Alia joined the movie, she had barely a few releases. Ayan also stated, "Alia wasn't the star she is today." He said, "The amount that was fixed for Alia in this film was not a very big amount, but even that small amount, by the time we completed the film, even Alia said that all of it had gone into the making of the film."

On September 9, the first Brahmastra film premiered in theatres, and it was warmly received by both reviewers and viewers. Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy are also featured in the movie.
