Brat on OTT: Director Shashank Talya’s second consecutive collaboration with Darling Krishna brought Bhale Unnade actress Manisha Kandkur to Kannada cinema

Brat, the Darling Krishna film about the perils of online betting, has made its way to streaming, only 4 weeks after the theatrical release. Directed by Shashank Talya, Brat was Krishna’s second consecutive collaboration with the filmmaker, after their successful film, Kousalya Supraja Rama . Known to introduce new actors to Kannada cinema, including Rocking Star Yash and his wife, Radhika Pandit, among others, Shashank brought Bhale Unnade-fame Manisha Kandkur this time.

The film dropped on Amazon Prime Video at 12 am on November 28, 2025, and is available in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi too, apart from the Kannada original. The film also stars Achyuth Kumar, Ramesh Indira, Dragon Manju, Manasi Sudheer, among others, while music’s by Arjun Janya.

Brat dives into the murky world of online cricket betting

In the film, Krishna’s character Krishna, called Kristy by his pals, is the son of an honest cop, who yearns for life of luxury, instead of scraping from salary-to-salary month-on-month. When he stumbles upon an opportunity to make a quick buck using his knowledge of cricket to predict match outcomes, Kristy is surprised by the turnaround. With each right guess, he ups the ante, until, one fine day, it all comes crashing down. A bet goes wrong, his bookie vanishes and Kristy is left to face the thug running the whole operation.

Shashank hoped that the subject would appeal to youngsters who are likely to fall into the trap of online betting, as well as parents with gullible wards at home. The film is said to have had a decent opening, but didn’t quite sustain, which is why it is already on OTT.

Krishna will soon be seen in the R Chandru production Father, in which he co-stars Prakash Raj. He is also said to have wrapped up shooting the third instalment in his directorial franchise, Love Mocktail, with speculation rife that he will release it in time for Valentine’s Day 2026.
