With the official release of the first trailer for Bridgerton Season 4 by Netflix, the spotlight has shifted to Benedict (Luke Thompson), the second-eldest Bridgerton sibling's romantic interests. In the next season, we will see a "Cinderella-inspired" storyline drawn from Julia Quinn's third novel, An Offer from a Gentleman continuing the successful arcs of Colin, Daphne, and Anthony.

New season of gossip!

A new social season begins in the newly released trailer with the majesty of the London "ton" making their entrance. Supervising the celebrations are Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh) and Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel), with the Queen requesting "great gossip" to kick off the year.

Lady Violet Bridgerton's (Ruth Gemmell) much-anticipated masquerade party serves as the trailer's focal point. Benedict, known for living a bohemian life and avoiding conventional marriage, meets a mysterious woman wearing a silver mask here. We learn that Yerin Ha's Sophie Baek—the "Lady in Silver"—is actually her real name. A sequence in the teaser shows Benedict admitting he is enchanted by the "most intriguing person" he has ever encountered, highlighting their instant connection.

Cinderella twist

The trailer prominently features the "Cinderella" twist: just before midnight, Sophie flees from the ball, leaving behind all but one glove. This marks the start of Benedict's intense pursuit to uncover the identity of his mysterious lady.

Several new characters join the Mayfair cast in Season 4. Yerin Ha assumes the primary role of the newcomers, portraying the cunning maid Sophie Baek, who conceals her true identity due to societal pressures. Showrunner Jess Brownell contrasts the "harsher reality" Sophie faces with Benedict's "fantasy world" this season.

New faces of Mayfair

Some more noteworthy additions are that discerning and forthright mother Lady Araminta Gun, played by Katie Leung, makes her way through the marriage market. Played by Michelle Mao, Rosamund Li is the eldest daughter of Araminta and Benedict's potential suitor. Playing Rosamund's younger, more amiable sister, Posy Li, is Isabella Wei.

Even though Benedict is in the spotlight, the teaser shows that the rest of the cast is still very much involved. Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) settle into married life after the revelation of Penelope's identity as Lady Whistledown. John Stirling and Francesca, played by Victor Alli and Hannah Dodd, respectively, return from their honeymoon, while Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley, who play Viscount Anthony and Kate, respectively, play supporting roles as the heads of the Bridgerton household.

Season 4 release schedule

The streaming service has decided to distribute the new season in installments. The eight-episode arc will be divided into two parts:

Part 1 (Episodes 1-4): Streaming January 29, 2026

Part 2 (Episodes 5-8): Streaming February 26, 2026

The phrase "True Love Wears No Mask" appears at the end of the trailer, suggesting that the protagonists will finally shed their masks and show the world who they really are.
