Byadh preview: All you need to know about Anirban Chakrabarti’s upcoming series
Byadh - Anirban Chakrabarti.

Imagine a story about the killing of birds? The innocent sparrows lay on the ground, dead, killed with a sickle, their necks sliced as they lay in a pool of their own blood. Byadh (killer) tells this tale. It is inspired from the novel called Chorai Hatya Rohoshyo, which was penned by Rajarshi Das Bhowmik. Here’s everything you need to know about Byadh…

What is Byadh?

Like mentioned, Byadh means killer. Thus, the story is about finding the killer who is murdering innocent sparrows so gruesomely.

Why sparrows?

That is an interesting question. When there are so many humans out there, why will a killer murder sparrows who simply look cute as they fly in the sky? There sure is a reason. Sparrows define both freedom and death. The killer wants to leave a message. Now whether the message is that freedom is dead or that death is near, is something that you will get to see as the series releases.

Where is Byadh inspired from?

Byadh has taken inspiration from Rajarshi Das Bhowmik’s novel Chorai Hatya Rohoshyo. This novel is very exclusive and is not available in the digital print so far.

Who are the actors in the series?

Anirban Chakrabarti, best known for Eken Babu in the Hoichoi series, plays the lead role in the series. Rajatava Dutta is the second lead in the series. Byadh also sees Roni Kharaj Mukherjee, Bibriti Chatterjee, Souman Bose and Anashua Majumdar in pivotal roles.

Who has helmed Byadh?

Abhirup Ghosh has come on board for the web series. In an interview with Telegraph, he revealed having a ‘haunting effect’ after hearing the story of sparrows being killed. Thus, he decided to adapt it into Byadh. He feels the story is relevant to the current socio-political climate.

When and where can you catch the series?

Byadh will be available for streaming on Hoichoi. It will start streaming from February 11.
