Chatha Pacha’s ‘little’ star Vedhika’s ‘Manju Warrier’ reel helped fetch her role in WWE wrestling-inspired film

Chatha Pacha director Adhvaith Nayar says he found their perfect ‘Rosa’ after watching a video of child artiste Vedhika Sreekumar, performing a scene from a Manju Warrier film.

The Malayalam movie Chatha Pacha features a slew of young actors, including Arjun Ashokan and Roshan Mathew, and a fiery cameo by Mammootty. Even amid all this talent, a little girl is also in the spotlight - Vedhika Sreekumar, who is playing the seven-year-old Rosa in the movie, which is inspired by WWE wrestling. And the makers found their perfect ‘Rosa’ after watching a video of the little Vedhika performing a scene from a Manju Warrier film.

How Chatha Pacha team found Rosa

The child artiste Vedhika Sreekumar is around seven years old, but is already making a splash in the showbiz. During a recent interview with Baradwaj Rangan of Galatta Plus, Chatha Pacha director Adhvaith Nayar recalled how they were very particular about getting the perfect casting for ‘Rosa’ and went through so many options.

“This 7-year-old girl is supposed to behave like the most adult person amongst the group and the adults are supposed to behave like kids. We were very particular. We've gone through so many options... like a lot of suggestions... and then we saw little Vedhika's video in which she was doing a scene that Manju Warrier did in an old film. It is up on her Instagram page as well and she sent that as an audition. We brought her from Palakkad,” recounted Adhvaith, who is making his directorial debut with Chatha Pacha. Though he did not specify which Manju Warrier movie, Vedhika's Instagram page features a reel of the little girl enacting a fiery scene from the actress' film Pathram.

The young filmmaker went on to recollect how the little girl appeared confident and was not at all nervous when she came over to meet the film's crew.

“So we did a scene as soon as we were done recording it me and my associates go to the other room we're like we found her,” he added with a smile. Vedhika has already participated in shows like Drama Junior and Comedy Masters and a serial Mayamayooram.

On the other hand, Chatha Pacha will make its grand release on January 22, 2026. The film premiere was already held on January 20, which saw positive responses with the fans praising Mammootty's entry and the action sequences.
