Malayalam film, Checkmate, is all set to make its digital debut a year after its theatrical release. The thriller, which stars Anoop Menon in a lead role, will be accessible on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium from the coming week.

Meanwhile, it has now been confirmed that ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium will be streaming this thriller in multiple languages from October 2. Recently, a Malayalam web series titled Kammattam, featuring Sudev Nair as a cop, had made its debut on the same platforms. Arjun Ashokan's Sumathi Valavu is also now available on both the sites. Asif Ali's Abhyanthara Kuttavali will also be accessible on these from October 17.

Checkmate plot and cast details

According to the film's trailer, it is an intense thriller that is partially set in New York. Checkmate weaves together the lives of a pharmaceutical CEO, a prospective designer, a widower, and a lawyer in order to solve a kidnapping case. In the film, Anoop Menon plays Philip Kurian, a senior government researcher of a pharmaceutical corporation stuck in moral dilemma as his company's drug trials leads to the deaths of people. Characters from opposing ethical and allegiance factions clash as the threat intensifies. How secrets surface and forces everyone to make tough choices forms the crux of the movie.

Despite its disappointing box office performance, it received appreciation for its distinctive storytelling approach. Ratish's contributions to Paapam Cheyyathavar Kalleriyatte are well-known.
