Rohit Shetty's Cirkus, which stars Ranveer Singh and Varun Sharma in a double role is pretty much finished at the box office. The beginning itself wasn't impressive, and things didn't get better on Saturday. The collection is flat even on day 3. It comes as a major shock to Shetty fans because the director is renowned as the box office hit machine and has never failed to connect with the audience. He has given 11 consecutive hits and, alongside Sooryavanshi, partially restored the cinema business. Sadly, he was unsuccessful in his attempt this time.

Given that it's a Sunday and people typically go to the movies on Christmas, Cirkus was anticipated to do well on Sunday. Unfortunately, the movie did not benefiting at all because day 3's booking was below normal, bringing in only 2.75 crores from ticket sales. It's quite disheartening, because it appears that during this holiday season, Avatar 2 is being preferred. This is Sunday's scenario, so one can only speculate as to how the movie will perform starting Monday.

Along with Ranveer, Varun Sharma plays two characters in the comic entertainer, and Pooja Hegde and Jacqueline Fernandez play the two leading females. Shakespeare's comedy The Comedy of Errors served as the inspiration for Gulzar's masterpiece Angoor, which stars Sanjeev Kumar and Deven Verma in dual roles.

After the social comedy Jayeshbhai Jordaar, which was released in May of this year, and the sports drama 83, which was released in December of last year, this is the third consecutive movie starring Ranveer Singh that has underperformed at the box office. Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, a comedy directed by Karan Johar, is Singh's upcoming movie and is scheduled to open in theatres on April 28.

Prior to Cirkus, Rohit Shetty had already produced box office successes in the shape of his own cop world with movies like Singham, Singham Returns, Simmba, Sooryavanshi, and the complete Golmaal series of four movies. Bol Bachchan, Chennai Express, and Dilwale are some of his other popular movies.
