Since its debut in 1994, Clerks written and directed by Kevin Smith has been a cult classic and a cultural phenomenon. An Indie hit, the movie paved the path for many other low-budget movies.

1091 Pictures have now dropped an official trailer to Clerk. a documentary by frequent Smith collaborator Malcolm Ingram, which documents the life and career of the filmmaker.

The documentary which jumps into the life of the filmmaker also talks about the rise and fall and then the rise again of Smith, who is still a massive figure in pop-culture and how he reinvent his career following the setbacks and failures.

Apart from interviews from the cultural icon, the documentary also has a number of interviews with stars such as Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Penn Jillette, Jason Lee, Stan Lee, Richard Linklater, Justin Long, Jason Mewes, Scott Mosier, Jason Reitman, and more.

Smith wrote and directed Clerks in 1994 with a budget of around $25,000 and grossed over $3 million after its release. Shot in the video and convenience store Smith worked in, the movie is considered a staple in independent filmmaking and is a fan-favourite even today.

Smith has stated that he made Clerks after watching Richard Linklater’s Slacker a movie that more or less kick started the independent film movement in the country.

A second sequel to Clerks titled Clerks III is in the works and is waiting for a release date from the filmmaker.

Clerk. will be digitally available from November 23.
