Yes, it’s confirmed: Pooja Hegde to do a special number in Coolie

Rajinikanth’s much-anticipated film with filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj is shaping up, with the production going on. The film is produced by Sun Pictures. Recently, there have been several reports stating that actor Pooja Hegde will be doing a special number in Coolie.

On Thursday, Pooja Hegde was officially announced to be part of Coolie. Clad in a red dress, slit in the thigh, Pooja Hegde's poster was unveiled! She will be making a special appearance, for mostly a song in Coolie. It will be interesting to see Pooja shake a leg alongside Rajinikanth.

Coolie is an action thriller directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, featuring Rajinikanth in the lead role. The film also stars Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and Shruti Haasan. Principal photography commenced in July 2024, and is scheduled for theatrical release in 2025. The soundtrack is composed by Anirudh Ravichander and is produced by Sun Pictures.

Lokesh Kanagaraj criticised for special number

While Pooja Hegde’s announcement was welcomed by some, others took to social media to share the disappointment with Lokesh Kanagaraj whose has steered away from his usual style of filmmaking. Lokesh had been someone who was clear with his storytelling and did away with commercial elements like special numbers and other unwanted elements of storytelling. However, with a special number in Coolie being announced, netizens have given a thumbs down to the filmmaker.

A release date for Coolie is yet to be announced. However, it will not fall under Lokesh Cinematic Universe, it was earlier stated by the filmmaker himself.
