As soon as a teaser for Adipurush was posted online, its computer-generated imagery (CGI) and visual effects were harshly criticized. So, soon after hearing what the people had to say, it was said that Om Raut might delay the release of the movie. Adipurush starring Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, and Kriti Sanon, was set to hit the big screens on January 12, 2023. Now, the director took to his social media pages and announced the new release date, which is June 16, 2023.

Raut started the note by stating, "Adipurush is not a film, but a representation of our devotion to Prabhu Shri Ram and commitment towards our sanskriti and history."

He further shared that his teams need to rework on the film for its betterment. "In order to give a complete visual experience to the viewers, we need to give more time to the teams working on the film," he further wrote.

Raut concluded by writing, "We are committed to make a film that India will be proud of. Your support, love, and blessings is what keeps us going."

Sunny Singh and Devdatta Nage also play pivotal roles in the mythological film.

Adipurush was one of the most expensive Indian movies ever made. It cost over Rs 400 crore and was shot in both Hindi and Telugu at the same time.

Talking about the film's plot, in order to save his wife Sita, who had been kidnapped by Ravana, the ruler of Lanka, 7,000 years ago, Rama of Ayodhya travelled to the island of Lanka with the aid of Hanuman's army.

Earlier, while talking about receiving criticism for the teaser, Raut told Indian Express that because the movie is intended for a larger medium—the big screen—he was discouraged but not surprised. One can reduce it to some extent, but not to the level of a mobile phone. He has no power over that setting. If Raut had his way, he would never upload anything to YouTube, but it's necessary right now. It must be placed there to be seen by a large number of people.
