Coolie, the Rajinikanth-starrer film which released in theatres mid-August, is currently running in theatres. The film is written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and even features a star-studded ensemble. Coolie had opened to middling reviews, and saw a reflection at the box office on the first week, but the last weekend saw a rise in collections, given no major Tamil films released in theatres.

Coolie box office collection report:

The action thriller Coolie, which had been one of the most anticipated films of the year from Tamil cinema, made its way to theatres on August 14. As per Sacnilk report, the box office report of the film stands at Rs 256.75 crore in India. After seeing a dip in the collection after the first few days by earning in single digits, Coolie regained its double-digit earning last weekend. From Friday's Rs 5.85 crore, it increased to Rs 10.5 crore on Saturday and Rs 10.75 crore on Sunday. This could also be because of no prominent Tamil releases last week, and audiences only go to is Coolie, which has star names attached.

Coolie still has about 10 days with no prominent competitors, given the next batch of releases are awaiting on September 5 with Sivakarthikeyan’s Madharaasi. However, Coolie will face a slow down in Kerala because of the upcoming Onam releases like Lokah: Chapter 1, Mohanlal’s Hridayapoorvam, Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira featuring Fahadh Faasil.

Prime Video has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film and will premiere Coolie sometime in late September. Starring Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Aamir Khan, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj and others, Coolie is an action thriller and standalone film not coming under LCU. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj with music by Anirudh Ravichander, Coolie revolves around a mansion owner going in search of those who killed his friend, thus discovering a crime syndicate he once had a connection with.
