Coolie trailer: Kannada star Rachita Ram’s presence in the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial Coolie has been speculated for a while, but she steadfastly refused to confirm the news until now

Kannada cinema’s Dimple Queen Rachita Ram is in Superstar Rajinikanth’s Coolie. The trailer of the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial, which came out on August 2, 2025, had the briefest glimpse of the actress looking visibly distressed, but offering no other context. Rumours that Rachita is a part of Coolie had surfaced way back in August 2024, but the actress, who very rarely makes public appearances had steadfastly refused to acknowledge this buzz.

In fact, every time she was asked about being a part of Coolie, she had not provided a confirmation, but admitted that she had been approached by the team. She added that if such a collaboration were to be a fruitful, it would only be right for the film team to make the announcement, rather than her. Well, that confirmation has come now, although it does not address the other rumour about her role – that she plays a character with negative shade. For that, one will have to wait for the film to release on August 14, 2025.
Kannada audiences, meanwhile, had twice the joy with the Coolie trailer, since Real Star Upendra is also a part of the magnum opus. Upendra plays Kaleesha in the film, and has described being a part of the Rajinikanth-led movie a dream come true. Upendra, like others in the film, has been tightlipped about his role, but did divulge that he has combination scenes with most of the lead cast. Coolie also stars Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Shruthi Haasan, Soubin Shahir, among others in lead roles, with Aamir Khan in a pivotal cameo, while Pooja Hegde makes a special appearance in the song, Monica.
Coolie is Rajinikanth’s 171st as a leading man and is said to be a stand-alone film that is not a part of the director’s cinematic universe. It has also been rumoured for a while that Coolie will blend a gangster tale with sci-fi time travel elements, and if the trailer is anything to go by, it seems that speculation is right.
