Darja is an actioner headlined by Pushpa-fame duo Sunil and Anasuya Bharadwaj in key roles. The film directed by Saleem Malik was bankrolled by Siva Sankar Paidipati under PSS Entertainments. With story by Nasser, the cast also includes Aksa Khan, Sammu, Satyanarayana Raju, Shakalaka Shankar, Sudha, Surya and others. After its theatrical release in July, the film will now premiere on OTT.

Telugu OTT platform aha has acquired the streaming rights of Darja and will stream the film on October 5. Mirchi Hemanth, Chatrapathi Sekhar, Seshu, Jabardasth Nagireddy and Sameer too play brief roles in the masala potboiler which has music by Rap Rock' Shakeel, cinematography by Darshan and is edited by MR Varma. P Rajendra Kumar has written the dialogues.

The film revolves around Ranga, a happy-go-lucky youngster in a village, who goes about his life aimlessly with a friend. He falls in love with a funeral artiste Geetha. Ranga's elder brother Ganesh, who's mute, incidentally is smitten by Geetha's sister Pushpa. Tragedy strikes Ranga's household when Ganesh is found dead with a suicide note citing Pushpa as the reason.

What connects Ganesh's death to the village’s most feared goon Kanakam? Sunil is cast as a cop while Anasuya plays the antagonist in the film. Darja received mostly unfavourable reviews upon release in theatres and tanked at the box office. Kamineni Srinivas presented Darja at the time of its release. Lingo Lingo and Neeli Neeli Meghama were among the more popular numbers from the film.

In a promotional interview prior to its release, Anasuya shared, “I play the role of Kanakam in Darja. I am very happy to be a part of the film and tried to scare audiences with my role. I hope audiences at least 'try' to be scared (laughs).” The OTTPlay verdict for the film read, “Even if you have the 'darja' of affording a ticket for the film, resist the temptation. Sunil and Anasuya Bharadwaj are royally wasted for a futile cause.”
