Will Kranti get Head Bush's October 21 slot?

Daali Dhananjaya is, no doubt, one of the busiest actors in Kannada cinema now, going by the sheer number of films he has up for release. In fact, earlier this year it seemed that he would also be the actor with the most releases this year. He had 21 Hours in May and Bairagee in July, after which he had one film lined up every month till November. August 19 was to be Monsoon Raaga’s release date, which has now been pushed ahead, presumably to September. As of now, September 9 is Once Upon a Time in Jamaligudda and September 30 Thotapuri Part 1. Dhananjaya’s next home production, the biopic of don MP Jayaraj, in which the actor plays the lead, Head Bush, had been announced for October 21, while his milestone 25th film, Hoysala was started as a Karnataka Rajyotsava release but has already been pushed ahead.

As of now, Monsoon Raaga and Hoysala are set to get new release dates. The buzz in industry circles is that Head Bush will vacate the October 21 window, as Challenging Star Darshan’s Kranti is now being rumoured to be eyeing that date. Both teams have not made official announcement about a postponement or release date.

Dhananjaya fans reckon that the postponement of some of his projects is a wise move. “Dhananjaya has several interesting projects in hand, so, he should plan the release of each with care and avoid clashes with too many other films,” wrote a fan on social media.

Kranti, which was launched on Vijayadashami last year, was nearly complete when the team returned from a Poland schedule recently. The team had also shared images from the dubbing of the film, so, the October 21 release rumours may have credence after all. A source from the team had said that Kranti would be a 2022 release, following which, Dasara, Deepavali or Karnataka Rajyotsava came up as tentative dates. Dasara already has Thotapuri and Kantara, while Rajyotsava has been taken up by the late Puneeth Rajkumar’s passion project, Gandhada Gudi.
