The fact that the Varshangalkku Shesham actor plays a role that best fits him is also commendable.

Detective Ujjwalan is a decent investigative thriller

Another good aspect of the film is the makers' choice to introduce a hero without action scenes or mass appeal. Unlike his recent films, such as Malayalee From India or Kudumba Sthreeyum Kunjadum which did not give the Varshangalkku Shesham actor a worthy character, Dhyan seems perfect as the scared yet confident detective Ujjwalan.

This film is helmed by Rahul G and Indraneel Gopeekrishnan. Detective Ujjwalan's screenplay was written by the directors themselves. The supporting cast of Detective Ujjwalan includes Siju Wilson, Rony David, Kottayam Nazeer, Seema G. Nair, Nihaal Nizam, Kalabhavan Navas, Shahubas, Nirmal Palazhy, and Nibraz Noushad.
