Weekend Blockbusters' efforts to create Malayalam cinema's first cinematic universe are complemented by Detective Ujjwalan. In the meantime, the subplots that reveal the filmmakers' attempts to incorporate a cinematic universe (WCU) leave the audience wondering about their upcoming films.

Detective Ujjwalan ending explained (Spoilers ahead!)

The main question left unresolved at the end of the movie is whether Plaachikkaavu's Boogeyman is related to Minnal Murali. In a number of the film's sequences, the mysterious murderer is shown standing in front of a wall that depicts a superhero with his face partially hidden, like Minnal Murali.

Many people are still curious about the killers' backstory, including why the teacher, who was portrayed by Jagadish, gave the twins the book about the real Boogeyman and why he offered to teach the children. Additionally, Jagadish's persona is seen reading a news report about the twins being apprehended for the Plaachikkaavu killings. While doing so, he delivers a menacing glance, suggesting that the story is not over yet. It is still unknown how he is related to Plaachikkaavu and whether he has ever committed similar crimes elsewhere.

The audience is also left in the dark about the mystery of Ujjwalan's cousin's disappearance, which heightens their curiosity about whether the movie will have a sequel that answers all of their questions.

Detective Ujjwalan is a decent investigative thriller

The review by OTTplay claims that the investigative thriller, which stays away from the genre's clichés, is an interesting watch because to its light-hearted components and creative narrative approach. Another good aspect of the film is the makers' choice to introduce a hero without action scenes or mass appeal. Unlike his recent films, such as Malayalee From India or Kudumba Sthreeyum Kunjadum which did not give the Varshangalkku Shesham actor a worthy character, Dhyan seems perfect as the scared yet confident detective Ujjwalan.

This film is helmed by Rahul G and Indraneel Gopeekrishnan. Detective Ujjwalan's screenplay was written by the directors themselves. The supporting cast of Detective Ujjwalan includes Siju Wilson, Rony David, Kottayam Nazeer, Seema G. Nair, Nihaal Nizam, Kalabhavan Navas, Shahubas, Nirmal Palazhy, and Nibraz Noushad.
