Detective Ujjwalan on OTT - Recently, it was confirmed that Detective Ujjwalan's digital rights were purchased by Netflix. The thriller began streaming on the OTT platform from 12 am on July 11.

This week, a number of Malayalam films are making their OTT debut. Among them is Detective Ujjwalan, the most recent film starring Dhyan Sreenivasan. Netflix is now streaming the movie online.

Recently, it was confirmed that Detective Ujjwalan's digital rights were purchased by Netflix. The investigative thriller began streaming on the popular OTT platform from 12 am on July 11, 2025. Sophia Paul produced the film under her production house, Weekend Blockbusters', label. Their previous productions, such as Minnal Murali, RDX, and Kondal, are also available on the same OTT site. Meanwhile, Netflix has not released a Malayalam film in a while. Officer on Duty, starring Kunchacko Boban, was another latest film to debut digitally on the streaming service.

Along with Tovino Thomas' Narivetta and Sreenath Bhasi's Azadi, Detective Ujjwalan was released in theatres in May. Azadi is available on Manorama Max and Sun NXT, while Narivetta began streaming on Sony LIV and OTTplay Premium on July 11.

Detective Ujjwalan's plot and cast details

There is a 'Boogeyman' that lingers over Plaachikkaavu, a supposed peaceful neighbourhood. Local investigator Ujjwalan is determined to catch the murderer while an elusive foe is on a murderous spree, accompanied by a team of police officers and the residents of the area. The main questions of the film are how Plaachikkaavu manage to escape the Boogeyman's curse and whether Ujjwalan will discover the truth about the murderer.

According to OTTplay's review, the film's intriguing plot makes up for the few emotional scenes that do not appear to have enough depth. For those who like a good investigative thriller with a hilarious twist, the Dhyan Sreenivasan flick is definitely an entertaining watch.

This film was directed by newcomers Rahul Ghave and Indraneel Gopeekrishnan. The directors themselves wrote the screenplay for Detective Ujjwalan. Siju Wilson, Rony David, Kottayam Nazeer, Seema G. Nair, Ameen Nihaal Nizam, Kalabhavan Navas, Shahubas, Nirmal Palazhy, Josy Sijo, and Nibraz Noushad are among the supporting cast members.
