Dheeram star Indrajith Sukumaran's next to be out-and-out comedy, reveals role in his 100th film

Dheeram star Indrajith Sukumaran says that his next Malayalam film would be an out-and-out humor film, which incidentally is his 100th film. He would be seen in the role of Yama (Kalan).

Malayalam actor Indrajith Sukumaran’s latest film Dheeram, released in theatres along with Mammootty’s Kalamkaval on December 5, 2025. Dheeram, a thriller, sees Indrajith in yet another cop role. But the noted Malayalam actor says that his next film would be an out-and-out humour film, which would also see him in the role of Lord Yama (Kaalan). Here’s everything he said about his upcoming comedy movie, which incidentally is Indrajith’s 100th film.

Dheeram’s lead actor Indrajith Sukumaran has said that he would be starting with his next project in December 2025. In a recent chat with The Cue Studio, Indrajith revealed that his next film would be high on humour that is helmed by debutant Nithish KTR and backed by Vijay Babu's production banner.

“I am really looking forward to that film because I think this would be the film I would be doing out-and-out comedy after Amar Akbar Anthony. It is a really interesting plot. I was laughing from the first to last scene while reading the script itself,” added Indrajith who has done humorous roles in Classmates, and Happy Husbands, among others. He played Anthony in the 2015 film Amar Akbar Anthony, which co-starred his brother and actor Prithviraj Sukumaran and Jayasurya.

Revealing further details about his role in the new film, the Empuraan actor said that he would be playing Lord Yama (God of Death) or Kaalan in Malayalam in the upcoming film. The film would follow the events as Lord Yama descends onto the earth, which is portrayed in an interesting sequence of incidents.

He said that the film would have all kinds of humour - caricaturish, situational and even realistic.

A film titled Kaalante Thankakudam, with Indrajith in the lead and helmed by Nitish KTR, was announced in May 2024, but there have not been many official updates since. Now, Indrajith has confirmed that the film would start rolling soon. Noted actors Saiju Kurup, Aju Varghese, Indrans, Johny Antony, Ramesh Pisharody, and Azees Nedumangad also join Indrajith in the film, promising a laugh riot.

But Indrajith's latest film Dheeram has not been making much waves at the box office, even as Kalamkaval races ahead.
