Dhurandhar on OTT: Naveen Kaushik, who plays the role of Donga in the Aditya Dhar directorial, had a candid chat about his scene and how the movie is a reminder of Sholay.

Dhurandhar has been trending ever since it has released on OTT on Netflix. The movie, directed by Aditya Dhar, made use of real guns – at least that’s what Naveen Kaushik, who plays the role of Donga in the movie, revealed. Did Dhurandhar use real guns? Naveen Kaushik reveals

Revealing that it took multiple takes to keep up the energy of his last shot with the guns, Naveen Kasturia shared with the production house that since it was his solo shot, he watched many films involving action and tried to bring that back on screen. Quoting ‘Imitation is also a form of flattery,’ the actor shared that he tried to pay tribute to action stars.

He shared that there was a body double for tougher sequences and credited him for handling most of the things. The actor also shared how the body double helped him understand a lot of the technicalities including how to throw a grenade and use the gun. While sharing that, Naveen also revealed, “Dono guns jo unhone mujhe di thi woh actual guns thi.” He revealed that the trigger pin was detached, but handling it was tough nonetheless because of the immense weight. The actor underwent some weight training to be able to handle the same.

Naveen even joked that he screamed so much that his voice was low for four days straight. “That day Aditya (Dhar) sir told me that I need nothing but bloodlust in his eyes,” the actor stated. He shared that Amitabh Bachchan’s sacrificial moment from Sholay was his reference point for Dhurandhar. “Many people called me and stated how Dhurandhar is getting the same kind of recognition that Sholay got back in the day where people remember the characters, story and feel for all the characters,” he shared, comparing Gabbar to Rahman Dakait.
