Milestone, also known as Meel Patthar, released on Netflix recently. The film, directed by Ivan Iyr, has been critically acclaimed for the storyline and performances by Suvinder Vicky and Lakshvir Saran.

Meel Patthar is the story of veteran truck driver Ghalib (Suvinder), who faces an existential crisis after he is about to lose his job to an intern. Interestingly, many recent releases have covered the aspect.

Here are a few of them...

Nomadland

In Nomadland, Fern (Frances McDormand) has to find a source to survive when she doesn’t have a job or a husband. She lives life to the fullest, but is constantly trying to make a living while dealing with the loss of the love of her life. She faces an existential crisis, but is the strongest example of moving on despite tough situations.

Directed by Chloe Zhoa, the film won two Oscar awards for Best Actor (Frances) and Best Director (Chloe). Nomadland can be streamed on Disney+Hotstar.

The Disciple

A classical music vocalist Sharad Nerulkar (played by Aditya Modak) faces existential crisis after having second thoughts about his profession and life as a whole. In his mind, Sharad is not as good as his master.

The Marathi film, directed by Court helmer, beautifully explores his life. The Disciple can be streamed on Netflix.

Vitthal Teedi

Scam 1992 actor Pratik Gandhi was seen in the role of Vitthal Teedi in his latest web series, Vittal Teedi, which released on the newly launched OTT platform, Oho Gujarati. A gambler by profession, he faces existential crisis when he cannot gamble anymore, loses his father and cannot run to his sister every time for support, since she too is married.

The Great Indian Kitchen

In The Great Indian Kitchen, a wife (Nimisha Sajayan), who is also a singer by profession, is stuck in a marriage where she is not happy. Although she tries to adapt to the traditional household, where men get priority over women, she finally chooses to get out of the setting and make a life for herself.

Directed by Joe Baby, the film can be viewed on Amazon Prime Video.

Tangra Blues

In Tangra Blues, Sanjib Mondal (played by Parambrata Chatterjee) leads a music band who is not taken seriously, till they end up winning a reality show with music composer Joyee (Madhumita Sarcar). This brings a lot of low points for them, on an individual level, and as a band.

The film, helmed by National Award-winning director Supriyo Sen, is available for streaming on Hoichoi from May 14.
