How is Tu Yaa Main connected with Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba?

Bejoy Nambiar, who was called to direct Raanjhanaa song previously, would have worked with Aanand L. Rai in Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba before Tu Yaa Main. Interestingly, Haseen Dillruba 2 happened to introduce an important character for Tu Yaa Main. “After Raanjhanaa, the second call from Aanand L. Rai came to direct Haseen Dillruba 2. Then I politely declined. That’s where he tried to push the crocodile from Haseen Dillruba 2 for Tu Yaa Main,” Bejoy revealed during his interaction on The Hollywood Reporter.

Bejoy Nambiar almost refused Tu Yaa Main as well because he wanted to explore something by his own self. When it came to Tu Yaa Main, Bejoy revealed, “He (Aanand L. Rai) just asked me to come and listen to the script. I was sold at the narration, walked out of the room and told Aanand sir that I want to do the film. That’s how it came together. I’ve worked with different filmmakers, who have always been the greatest allies for me. I work better with them than with production houses.”

How did Bejoy Nambiar meet Aanand L Rai?

Speaking about his collaboration with Aanand L. Rai, Bejoy Nambiar shared that they go back to Shaitaan days. He recalled, “I couldn’t find a producer during Shaitaan, but one (Shailesh Singh) told me to keep working on the script while they try and figure out the production part. I used to work out of his office. There I used to keep seeing Aanand sir, who was trying to make Tanu Weds Manu at the time. He had made one film with Jimmy Sheirgill before Tanu Weds Manu, and that’s what I had seen of him. I had seen rushes, and I saw the scene where Madhavan comes into Kangana’s room and she had fallen asleep. I knew that there was something nice about that film, and then it just sky-rocketed.”
