Dies Irae box office collection day 3: Dies Irae, the latest horror thriller in Malayalam, had a terrific run during its first weekend at the box office. Starring Pranav Mohanlal in the lead, Dies Irae increased its collection during the weekend with a total of Rs 16.75 crore in India net collections, as per trade tracker Sacnilk. These are stellar numbers, especially since the Rahul Sadasivan movie evoked mixed reactions during the weekend. Pranav Mohanlal's film has already beaten Unni Mukundan's Marco to become the biggest A-rated opener in Malayalam.

Dies Irae The Day of Wrath made Rs 6.35 crore on day 3 at the box office, which saw an increase of 11.40 per cent from its day 2 collections of Rs 5.7 crore, the Sacnilk data reports. The 2025 horror film collected nearly Rs 12 crore worldwide on day 1, while the brutal actioner Marco opened with Rs 10 crore when it released in theatres in December 2024. Marco went on to be a hit, grossing over Rs 100 crore.

Rahul Sadasivan, the young, confident director of Dies Irae, had also kept special paid premieres for the film, which also saw a good response with all those who watched it giving rave reviews. The horror thriller's worldwide collections stand at Rs 33 crore on day 3.

However, the weekend threw up mixed reactions for the horror thriller film, with one section claiming that the Pranav-starrer did not match up to the scale and horror of the director’s previous two films, Bhoothakaalam and Bramayugam. While Bhoothakaalam fetched Revathy her first Kerala State Award, veteran actor Mammootty is in contention for the Best Actor award for his performance in Bramayugam. The State Awards are expected to be announced on November 3.

But the weekend collections show that Dies Irae collections have not been impacted by the differing feedback. However, the film’s first real test begins today (its first Monday). The horror thriller will face some competition from upcoming films, including Innocent and Ithiri Neram of actor Roshan Mathew, that are scheduled for release on November 7. But these are relatively smaller in scale and we need to wait and watch how these would perform at the theatres.
