Rahul Sadasivan’s latest horror thriller has already made Rs 39.7 crore, as per trade tracker Sacnilk, within just four days at the box office. The positive word-of-mouth and latest figures indicate that Dies Irae could hit Rs 50 crore before it completes its first week at the ticket window.

On its fourth day at the box office, Dies Irae The Day of Wrath made Rs 3.25 crore in India net collection, passing the crucial Monday test with flying colours. The horror film’s India net collections stand at Rs 20 crore, while the worldwide collections are at a remarkable figure of Rs 39.7 crore, as per Sacnilk data. This means that Dies Irae needs just a little over Rs 10 crore to hit the first milestone of Rs 50 crore. With the way, the film has been performing, even on weekdays, Dies Irae poised to hit the number within its first week of release.

Dies Irea release and reception

Dies Irea, written and helmed by Rahul Sadasivan in his third horror outing, hit theatres worldwide for Halloween on October 31, after paid premieres on Thursday saw overall positive feedback. Apart from Pranav Mohanlal, the film also features good performances by Gibin Gopinath and Arun Ajikumar.

Pranav plays the rich architect Rohan, who finds his normal life upended after the death of a woman named Kani. Though the film has been winning largely positive reviews, some fans are of the opinion that the Pranav-starrer did not match up to Rahul Sadasivan’s earlier films - Bhoothakaalam and Bramayugam.

Notably, Mammootty recently won the Kerala State Film Best Actor award for his performance in Bramayugam for the record seventh time. Rahul Sadasivan had also penned the 2024 film, which was shot in black-and-white. Actor-director Sidharth Bharathan also secured Best Character Actor for his performance as the cook at Kodumon Potti’s (Mammootty) house.
